I. REGULAR MEETING

            The meeting of the Connecticut River Estuary Metropolitan Planning Organization was called to order by Vice Chairman Dick Smith, who asked the Secretary to moderate the meeting.  Tim Griswold, Secretary, called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m. in the CRERPA Conference Room, Old Saybrook CT.

I. Public Involvement Period:

             There were no comments from public.

            Carla Iezzi, DOT:

                        1. Bicycle issues are being addressed.

                        2. Route 154 issue.  DOT is aware of issues and is working for a completion date.

                        3. She is working with Jean and Janice of CRERPA on pedestrian/bike plans. Carla said that DOT must be made aware as quickly as possible of town concerns.  There is a learning curve.  They are attempting to deal with issues as quickly as possible.

                        Several selectmen talked about projects in their individual towns that were not completed. Carla asked that the towns contact DOT with the project numbers of any outstanding issues, and she will research the items and get back to the Selectmen.

                       

 

                        Maintenance and safety have top priority status at DOT.                

                        The selectmen asked to be updated on a monthly basis to know status of projects.                                                      

 

2.         Adoption of Minutes:

                        Rich Cabral made the motion to accept the minutes of September ’08; Phil Miller seconded. All were in favor

IV. Federal and State Programs:

            a. STIP Amendments

                        There were no new STIP amendments.

            b. Planning Projects Updates.  Janice gave a brief overview of the area railroad commuter lots survey and explained how CRERPA has been gathering information through a transportation survey distributed to the area towns and on the internet.

            c. REPT – Jean and Chairman have been working on issues.

            d. CTDOT – Linda noted that every three years there is a review of MPOs for Federal Certification. The CT River MPO review will be held here at CRERPA, jointly with New Haven, on November 18th and 20th.  One of the requirements is that MPO board members be in attendance.  The meeting will be short. Jean will be contacting the MPO members with additional information.

            d. Planning Projects -- Transportation survey posters were distributed to selectmen. Survey is on web and hard copies of the survey were distributed.

           

IV. Other Transportation Business – None

 

            A Motion to adjourn made by Willie Fritz, at 9:30, seconded by Ralph Eno.  All were in favor.
